Have you noticed how slow the Clintons have been to enthusiastically support the Democratic Nominee Barack Obama? If so, you are not alone. Personally, I was growing very tired of hearing all the various politicos speak of how the Clintons were absolutely going to do the right thing and stump for Obama, and how there was no doubt that they would be his biggest cheerleaders. Every time I heard such BS, I would often wonder, "Did these people sit through the same painful democratic primary that I did?" I've come to the conclusion that they surely did not because the qualities that they ascribe to the Clintons don't belong to the Clintons that I came to know during the primaries.
So today, here's where we stand. Hillary Clinton has thrown her support behind Obama in a way that is starting to save face (at least among some). Yet her husband, Bill Clinton, has only been willing to offer up a tepid endorsement - at best. Well, today the reasons why are starting to come out. According to Marc Ambinder of Atlantic.com, the former President believes that (1) Obama ran an entirely Anti-Hillary campaign (i.e. did nothing but bash Hillary), and (2) Went out of his way to portray the former President as a racist. My response? "Really Bill? Really?" Delusional is the only word that comes to mind right now. With each passing day, I am reminded (usually through their own words and actions) of just how self-centered the Clintons are.
After all that has been said by the Clintons, from equating Obama's win in South Carolina to happening only "because he's black" - to - saying that LBJ deserved more credit for the enactment of civil rights laws than Dr. King - to - taking days upon days to repudiate surrogates' claims that Obama was the Affirmative Action candidate - to - actively courting the bigot vote - to - proudly announcing support among the "hardworking white people" demographic - to- prolonging the primary battle past the last election because "assassinations happen in June," and on and on.
