Another Black Woman Raped While Others Listened & Did Nothing!
Philadelphia, PA - This past Wednesday, a 20-year old woman living in the first floor apartment of a converted row house was brutally raped and sexually assaulted overnight by three men. The brutal attack lasted for four hours and ended when the assailants left with whatever little money the young woman had. What makes this case even more disturbing is that the woman's neighbor heard her screams, yet did not call the police. She simply went to sleep. This is yet another case of a black woman being assaulted in her own home while the community around her, hearing her screams, did NOTHING!! Often, it was this non-action that permitted the attackers in each case to continue with their assaults for hours and hours.
Around this same time last year, a young mother and her son were terrorized by upwards of ten teenagers who raped and sodomized the 35-year old woman for hours while her 10-year old son was beaten in the next room. Even more heinous, the assailants forced the young mother to perform oral sex on her son at gunpoint. How did the community respond to her attack? One woman is quoted as saying, "So a lady was raped. Unfortunately, our black "leadership" (I use that term very lightly), failed this woman. In fact, both Al Sharpton and the NAACP came out in favor of the assailants, citing their treatment by the authorities as "unfair."
