Is Target the New Singles Meeting Spot?
Is this the new "hot thing" to do or something? Seriously! If it is, then I have this simple request: STOP IT NOW!! There is nothing sexy about trying to pick up a guy or girl at the local Target.
Here's why I ask: Since one of my local Target stores remodeled (the one outside of Ladera Heights for you LA locals), I've noticed an alarming trend. Every time I walk in, there's a group of young men (late teens, maybe early 20s) standing against the wall beside the door detectors. It's obvious that they're not waiting for anyone to finish shopping. They're just standing there chatting each other up, stopping only to watch the ladies walk in and out. As a result, every time I walk into my local Target, it feels like I'm on display. And because of how the men are lined up against the wall, it almost feels like I'm on stage at a strip club and the only thing missing is the stripper pole.
Don't get me wrong. As a woman, I enjoy being noticed and appreciated. However, I prefer the subtle, more respectful forms of appreciation. Call me a prude!
