MEMPHIS (AHN) - On the eve of the 41st anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a previously ignored FBI report has come to light stating that a group of white supremacists had paid James Earl Ray Jr. to kill King.
The declassified FBI files about King are detailed for the first time in "Legacy of Secrecy," written by Lamar Waldron, with Thom Hartmann, according to a release from Counterpoint Press.
There is no evidence that the recently uncovered 1968 report was given to the 1979 Congressional investigation headed by Rep. Louis Stokes--the House Select Committee on Assassinations--which had concluded that Ray acted for money, according to the statement released by a publicist for Lamar Waldron, who had reportedly obtained the files.
