(Sauda Voice shakes head and takes a long, deep breath) I don't advocate calling my fellow brothers and sisters "Uncle Tom" or "Sell Out," but occasionally some in the black community make it very, very, VERY difficult not to do so. Case In Point: RNC Chairman Michael Steele (aka GOP token).
While guest hosting Bill Bennett's radio show last Friday, Mr. Steele laughed when a caller referred to President Obama as the "Magic Negro." (Remember the Magic Negro nonsense during campaign season?) According to Think Progress, here's how the exchange went:
CALLER: It’s just like the LA Times said last year or two years ago: He is the magic Negro.
STEELE: Yeah he — [laughing]. You read that too, huh? [still laughing]
CALLER: Oh yeah. I read that too. Even when things go wrong, he still manages to come out smelling like a rose.
STEELE: Well, yeah.
I swear, if a member of the GOP called Mr. Steele the N-word (or something equally derogatory), I think he would have to fight the urge to say, "Yessir, Massa sir!" (after defending and supporting the Republican's use of such words, of course)
